Inadequate furniture for school children has over the years been the major bane on the Wassa East education directorate.

In the Wassa East district, it is sadly common to see four students sharing a mono desk in a classroom. Some of the students also sit on the bare floor to learn. This is obviously an obstacle to quality education.

It is in this light that the Member of Parliament for Wassa East constituency Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has presented a total of 500 dual desks to the Wassa East education directorate to at least provide comfortable sitting environment for school children.

The MP also at the same time presented 2,400 mathematical sets to support the BECE candidates who are sitting for their BECE on Monday, 7th August, 2023.

Speaking during the handing over of the 500 dual desks and the 2,400 mathematical sets to the Wassa East education directorate, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah said, education is one of his priorities as MP and so he would continue to provide any educational cushioning to support education in the district.

He also used the occasion to encourage all the BECE candidates to eliminate examination fears but enter the exams hall with confidence and optimism that they can make it.

Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah also assured all the BECE candidates and the other students in the district that, his office has instituted a scholarship scheme for students who excell in their examinations so every child should be motivated to learn had in order to enjoy the full benefits of such scholarship scheme.

The deputy director of education in the Wassa East district Mr. Afeku Ernest who stood in for the district director of education also expressed an unflinching gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his benevolent gesture and expressed joyfully that the furniture and the mathematical sets will go a long way to promote education in the district.

He also advised teachers, parents and students to maintain the furniture so that it can serve both the present and future children and serve the prime purpose with the MP brought it.
