WASSA EAST DCE HOT: AS RESIDENTS DEMONSTRATE AGAINST DCE FOR ALLEGEDLY DEPLOYING ARMED MACHO MEN IN THE COMMUNITY RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF A 21 YEAR OLD BOY
WASSA EAST DCE HOT:RESIDENTS OF WASSA ESSAMAN DEMONSTRATE AGAINST DCE IN WASSA EAST DISTRICT FOR ALLEGEDLY DEPLOYING ARMED MACHO MEN IN THE COMMUNITY RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF A 21 YEAR OLD BOY
The residents of Wassa Essaman in the Wassa East district of western region are in fears and panic as muscle built men (macho men) who are armed with guns take over the Wassa Essaman community, subjecting the residents to various forms of molestation and atrocities resulting in the death of a 21 year old innocent boy.
These armed macho men patrol in the community both day and night and fire warning shots from all angles in the community.
According to Dwamtoahene of Wassa Anyinabrem Divisional area Nana Kwadjo Boampong II, there was peace and stability in the community until all of a sudden the DCE for Wassa East district Hon. Emmanuel Boakye came to make a public announcement with a threat on the information centre that all strangers in the community must leave with immediate effect. Because he was bringing people from elsewhere to do community mining in the Subri forest reserves so he doesn’t want any strangers to be involved in this supposed community mining.
Meanwhile, the entire Wassa Essaman community is occupied by strangers with some of them living there for decades. Most of these strangers have done many properties in the community.
Nana Kwadjo Boampong II added that when the DCE made such an apartheid announcement, the entire community resisted so Hon. Emmanuel Boakye the DCE for Wassa East deployed armed macho men to fire warning shots indiscriminately in the community which has unfortunately resulted in the death of a 21 year old innocent boy.
Some of the residents of Wassa Essaman particularly women also expressed that, the inhumane action by the DCE has woefully affected the economic activities, families and marriages in the community so IGP should intervene.
The member of parliament for Wassa East constituency Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has condemned the brutality that is going on in the Wassa Essaman community and has called for calm and peace in the area.
Meanwhile, the DCE for Wassa East district Hon Emmanuel Boakye has denied that he has no knowledge in the presence and the activities of those macho men as the residents claim.
