The meeting which was massively attended by shareholders, executive council and board members from national, region and district discussed the progress made by the bank from 1st January to 31th December 2022 and also the general issues affecting the banking sector in the country.

The Twifo Rural Bank Ltd which is one of the traditional banks in the country has held its 27th Annual General Meeting at Twifo Praso of the Twifo Atti-morkwa district in the central region.
The meeting which was massively attended by shareholders, executive council and board members from national, region and district discussed the progress made by the bank from 1st January to 31th December 2022 and also the general issues affecting the banking sector in the country.
Mr. Frank Amoh Owusu who is the national chairman of Ghana Association of Rural Banks said that the banking sector is facing serious liquidity crisis due to the introduction of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme by the government.
He added that, most of the bondholders have now gotten their bonds locked to the DDEP owing to that the banks particularly the rural banks are now unable to grant loan facilities to their clients as they used to do in the previous years, this he said has woefully diminished cooperate organizations and individuals interest in working with the banks more especially the rural banks.

Mr. Frank Amoh Owusu also mentioned that one of the core aims of rural banks is to support agriculture in the rural communities by granting the farmers credit facilities to boost the agric sector but unfortunately it has become an abattoir on the neck of the rural banks to achieve this aim so he appealed to the government to volt money aside to support the rural banks in the country.

Mr. Samuel Asare who is the central regional administrator of rural banks also eulogized ARV Apex Bank which provides network services to all the rural banks across the country for migrating to R20 system which has made a rapid improvements in the network services which he said has in so many ways helped the rural banks in providing quick service to their numerous clients.

Finally, Dr. Anthony Sarpong who is the board chairman of Twifo rural bank Ltd highlighted on some gains that the bank has made since 2022.
