‘Twifo 34’ is a community in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of central region. The only Basic School that offers basic education to over seven nearby communities in the area is ” Twifo 34 D/A Basic School”.

The school was put up by the community through communal labour in the year 1998 which was 26 years ago. They used local building materials like sticks and sand to build the school.

Over the years, the Twifo 34 D/A Basic School has suffered constant cracks and rip offs during both dry and rainy seasons making the school building a death trap than a place to seek knowledge.

According to the chief of “Twifo 34” Nene Sodje, the community has made several reports to the Twifo Atti-morkwa district assembly about the deadly condition of the school but all to no avail until last weekend when the JHS 1 building totally collapsed at the time that the school was not in session.

The community again reported to the Twifo Atti-morkwa district assembly where this time round the assembly after assessing the condition of the school recommended to NADMO to collapse the entire JHS 1-3 building.

Nene Sodje lamented that, as we speak, the JHS 1 -3 students learn under tree, adding that the situation will have negative impacts particularly on the BECE candidates who are preparing to write their first ever major examination on July 8 this year.
