NO STANDARD NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT AT CAPE COAST TEACHING HOSPITAL – DR. E.K NGYEDU, CEO.

After its inception 25 years ago, the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital has been a major health delivery facility for Central, Western and adjoining Regions providing top-notch services.

This year, during its Annual Performance Review held at the GRNMA Hotel, Cape Coast, the Chief Executive of the Teaching Hospital gave brief overview of the Hospital’s performance over the past 25 years.

In his address the CEO revealed that ” the hospital still does not have a standard Neonatal   Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to manage all the critical neonatal cases.

On the way forward, the CEO mentioned that ” management is in dialogue with Ghana Health Service to consider setting up Special Care Baby Units at the peripheries to offload some of the NICU cases,” he concluded.

On Quality improvements, Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu stressed that the Teaching Hospital has created ” oncology pharmacy at the chemo-suite to improve cancer care” and he praised RoCHE Products LTD for their support.

Additionally, the Teaching Hospital has acquired and installed new CT Scan, ultrasound.

Plans are also far advanced to ” improve medical oxygen supply in the hospital”.
