A MILITARY OFFICER BUTCHERED AT GALAMSEY SITE AT WASSA AKYEMPIM IN THE WASSA EAST DISTRICT
A military officer by Name Timothy Adzakosi who is believed to be an officer from Tarkwa- Aboso military quarters in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality is allegedly reported to have been butchered at a galamsey site at Wassa Akyempim in the Wassa East district of western region when he allegedly visited the galamsey site with his three other colleagues.
According to some residents who anonymously spoke with Peace fm and UTV News reporter Listowel Aboagye Dacosta, all they saw was that the military officer was wildly being chased by the illegal miners from the galamsey site. They chased him to a fuel filing station at Wassa Akyempim where the victim finally got tired and could not run further so the suspects got hold of him and butchered him in the head. They wanted to repeat on his head but then the victim used his hands to block any strike to prevent further injuries on his head as a result he sustained serious degrees of injuries on his hands.

The residents who were engulfed with timidity and never consented their identity to be disclosed further revealed that these military officers regularly visit the various galamsey sites in Wassa East district. However, the mission of their constant visitations at the various galamsey sites in the area is unknown.
The three other officers immediately took to their heels to escape any dreadful assault and a possible death when they saw the first deep cut on the forehead of Timothy, their colleague. The identities of the three escapee officers also remain unknown.
It took the timely intervention of the assembly man of Wassa Akyempim electoral area Hon. Joseph Akomiah and his unit community chairman Agogo to take the helpless military officer who was in a pool of blood to Wassa Ateiku Health Center for emergency medical treatment.
The Wassa East district police command has not rested on the matter. They have launched hum investigations into the matter to locate the perpetrators who are currently on the run and put them before the law.
