OVER 400 FARMERS LOSE MILLIONS OF GHANA CEDIS TO A MICRO FINANCE COMPANY – C/R

Over 400 Farmers Lose Millions Of Ghana Cedis To A Micro Finance Company, Victims Storm Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Police Command For Their Deposits After Manager Arrested

About 400 farmers from Twifo Atti-morkwa district, Wassa East district and Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira district in the central and western region respectively have massed up at the Twifo Atti-morkwa district police command in Twifo Praso, demanding their deposits from Traders Opportunity Company Ltd, a micro finance company.

According to the aggrieved farmers, Mr. Samuel Mensah who is the manager of the Traders Opportunity Company Limited and his team came to the farmers at their various communities to inform them that they give loans to farmers at a highly reduced rate.

Adding that, before the loan can be given to a farmer, one has to make a deposit from gh200 which the manager explained further to the farmers that every gh200 deposit you make will give you gh1,000, gh400 will give you gh2,000 and so on after just one month.

In view of this, the farmers were motivated to make huge sums of deposits from gh1,000 to gh5,000 in order to receive the loans after the one month period to support their farming.

According to the farmers, it’s been three frustrated months now, none of the over 400 farmers has received 1 peswas from Traders Opportunity Company Ltd.

Meanwhile, the manager of Traders Opportunity Company Ltd Mr. Samuel Mensah has been arrested by the Twifo Atti-morkwa district police command where the farmers have stormed to demand their deposits.
