THE WORD IN ACTION CHURCH BUILDING COLLAPSES AT BORTIANOR.
Seven construction workers sustained injuries after a church auditorium collapsed on them at Old Botianor in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra region.
The three storey auditorium of The Word In Action Church caved in Tuesday morning while construction work was ongoing.
According to eye witnesses the seven persons who were working on an extension project of the auditorium heard an unusual noise but the building collapsed just when they attempted to escape.
All the victims were initially rushed to the Botianor polyclinic and one of them who was in critical condition was later transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Here’s an eyewitness speaking to the media about the incident.
But a member of the church who happens to be part of the administration of the church tells Citi News prior to the collapse of the church they never noticed any cracks of signs on sunday when they were worshipped.
The National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) says it has brought its search for any possible trapped victim to an end. The outfit however says it is yet to determine the actual cause of the disaster.
Wonder Matthew is Deputy NADMO Director for Ga South and he spoke to the media.
But experts have began questioning the structural integrity of the collapsed buildingans are considering possible prosecution.
