Over a thousand residents of Suncity a suburb of Budumburam in the Central Region have been left stranded following their eviction by a litigant in a land dispute.

The residents lament they were not given adequate time to relocate from the area.

The eviction exercise started around 7am on Thursday after Police officers and Taskforce forcefully ejected residents from the fifteen acre land at Suncity a suburb of Gomoa Budumburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region of Ghana.

It was such an emotional scene as the residents were evicted from their houses by the litigant under the supervision of a task force and police.

Personal belongings of the affected persons were thrown out of their rooms and entrances locked with padlocks provided by the litigant.

The litigant claims to have won a court case against property owners of the area.

Some stranded residents shared their frustrations with mcOnline.

The litigant declined to speak to the media about the development, however the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm who was not happy with the fast pace of the exercise believes the developer should have given ample time to the occupants on the land to move out.

The DCE asked residents who have been evicted not to move from the area but stay and wait for proper guidelines to ensure they move smoothly.
