The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Assembly, Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi, has been conferred with the prestigious African Public Service Optimum (APSO) Award for 2023 in recognition of his immense contribution to public service delivery in his community.
Organized by The Business Executive group, the award goes to honor high caliber professionals from various public institutions across Africa for their exemplary service.
As the administrative and political head of his district, Hon. Agyemang Nyantakyi has introduced several developmental initiatives leading to massive improvements in areas such as infrastructure, health care access, education, and youth empowerment.
For instance, under his leadership, the district has seen the construction of several classroom blocks to improve access to quality education. Again, with initial commendable efforts of his predecessors as well as through his lobbying for project completion, the 50-bed Twifo Praso Government Hospitalnand the River Pra Bridge projects have been completed to improve access and healthcare delivery in the district.
His instrumental role in creating an enabling environment that empowers local small-scale enterprises through various skills training programs has also been highly commendable. A significant number of youth have benefited from these capacity building initiatives.
Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi’s giant strides undoubtedly epitomizes the true spirit of selfless leadership geared towards transforming local communities across Africa. He serves as a shining example for other public officials to emulate.
As he was decorated at a grand gala scheduled on December 15, 2023 in Accra, we proudly celebrate Hon. Agyemang for this remarkable achievement as it brings great honor to the entire Twifo Atti-morkwa District and Ghana as a whole. The APSO award is a befitting recognition for his immense contribution towards the socio-economic advancement of his people.
Background on the APSO Award
The African Public Service Optimum (APSO) Award seeks to identify and celebrate excellence in Africa’s public service. It particularly focuses on high achieving professionals implementing governance systems or providing public goods and services in a financially sustainable manner.
The selection process is rigorous, involving initial screening and authentication of nominations by research consultants. Shortlisted nominees are then evaluated against 12 key criteria by a 12-member jury of experts with extensive experience across Africa.
As the award citation indicated, Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi’s enormous contribution was deemed to fulfill the requirements, hence his nomination was successful. The Business Executive Group particularly highlighted initiatives he spearheaded which enhances access to infrastructure, healthcare, education etc.
The award came with an invitation for the District Chief Executive to attend a conference that brought together public servants from across Africa to share ideas on improving service delivery.
