The President of the GRNMA, Madam Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo has once again come to the aid of a midwife in the Lambussie district of the Upper West Region
Ms Bernice Segbefia, the recipient of the cheque sum of GHC40, 000.00 has been battling breast cancer related ailment since 2019 when she was first diagnosed
She has been receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra for some time now
The Health Fund was introduced by the GRNMA to support members whose treatments for various ailments fall outside the coverage of National Health Insurance Scheme
The Fund is not an additional contribution from the member, but is built from 6% of the total dues that each member pays for Secretariat works.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of the President of the association, the Regional Secretary of the GRNMA in the Upper West Region, Mr. Evans Ibn Samba who also doubles as a parent to the Lambussie district where Bernice is stationed as a midwife urged Bernice to be strong and have faith as God gradually takes her out of the current situation.
Also present was Mr. Lawrence Bagrmwin, the Regional Chairman who until recently was the nurse manager to Lambussie Polyclinic where Bernice works. He used the opportunity to assure her of all support she may need.
On her part, Bernice Segbefia thanked the President and the association for coming to her aid, stressing that the intervention came timely as she had run out of cash to continue her laboratory investigations and chemotherapy.
The presentation took place at the GRNMA headquarters in Accra.
