Now that your threats for massive demonstrations have been eclipsed by your own party’s top guns who believe that the 10% tax imposed on betting winnings is a great idea, what happens next?

Your own party people have made nonsense of your press release which threatened to destabilize this country with series of agitations, what is the next line of action?

You clearly didn’t think through the issues before coming up with your call on the youth to occupy Parliament, agencies and offices of the state and confronting appointees of this administration.

If the few gullible NDC members who follow you and your exploits religiously reposed hope and comfort in you, then they have been strangers looking at how things have turned out to be.

You have clearly demonstrated that you are not on top of issues even within your own NDC party. You didn’t know that your party captured in its 2020 manifesto that it’d put a tax on betting to use the proceeds for the development of sports and its infrastructure.

You rather sought to create the impression that this government is insensitive by placing a 10% tax on betting winnings and that your party would never tax the livelihoods of the youth.

The movers and shakers of your party have swept your intended demonstrations away with stances which are not only reasonable but patriotic as well.

You appear to be far removed from your other National Executive members of the NDC, hence the parallel lines you are running things.

This is Hon. Muntaka Mubarak. He says that those who patronize sports betting must pay taxes on winnings. Taxes are paid on earnings and these people earn monies when they win and must, therefore, pay taxes on them. He, therefore, says he supports the 10% tax on betting winnings.

It is quite apparent that your ill-intentioned motives have failed in producing their due effects. You cannot leave your youth wing in a vacuum. Give them as well as the general public a new direction!

Write another release, perhaps, apologizing to the general public and the few youthful ones in your party who followed you sheepishly for misleading them.

We only get to hear your voice when there is an issue that attracts public attention. Your only solution to any issue is to demonstrate. Don’t you get bored and tired walking this same path all the time? You are notorious for planning failed demonstrations.

Your plot has been annihilated by the voices of reason that have spoken in favour of the 10% tax imposed on betting winnings.

P.K. Sarpong,

Whispers from the Corridors of the Thinking Place.
