It is just three days to her wedding! As Felda lay in her bed, she couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear. She had so carefully planned this wedding with the help of her mum and her sweet friend who of course was her maid of honour.
The planning process had been tough because she loved so much detail that it took a lot of effort for her to settle on anything. Her wedding planner had tried.
Her patience was unmatched as the back and forth with her choices would normally put most people off. But she stayed sweet and understanding through it all.
Looking back now, she could pat herself on the back. Everything was just as she wanted! She had dreamt of a very closed indoor wedding but later decided it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have it in church and then have the reception at a beautiful venue with just a few people to make it very intimate.
she had requested for soft hues, delicate lighting and plenty florals to give her a typical romantic atmosphere and she was getting all that. everything was coming together so well. And the gentleman behind this bounteous joy…. hmmm… Timmy.
Felda’s attention shifted to the day he dropped the question “would you marry me?”. She had waited for a whole year and Timmy had said nothing.
Timmy was such a composed man that she couldn’t just be sure of his motives.
He never tried to kiss her, sat close enough, hugged her or even held her hands. But there was something about his eyes whenever their eyes locked. It was as though she had captivated every part of him! For her, there was no doubt that she loved Timmy.
In fact, she prayed day and night that he would just pop that question. And he finally did… when she least expected it. It was at her friend’s birthday party. Her mum had called her and due to the loud music she stepped out to enable her hear better. Immediately after she hung up, she turned and there stood Timmy, right behind her. He looked so angelic that night with his bushy eye-brows, freshly shaved hair and moustache and pink lips. He wore a beige coloured round necked T-Shirt on a pair of dark grey jeans trousers. She was about five inches taller than him. As she stood there staring back and admiring him, he asked softly, “Did I scare you?
She almost couldn’t find her voice because he seemed to be having a double effect on her that night. “Yeah”, she responded. I didn’t realize you had come after me”. He took his hands out from his pockets and said, “ I am sorry honey. I didn’t mean to”. He swallowed hard and continued,” You look so charming tonight I couldn’t just hold back. It felt as though you left with my breath so I had to follow you to catch it before I faint in there”. “Eiiii, you and your sense of humour!” Felda said they both laughed out loud. Timmy had a great sense of humour.
He was a good communicator, sweet, caring and all but she had never seen this part of him. He had never called her “honey”. Neither had he ever sweet talked her as he seemed to be doing tonight. Before she could say anything else, Timmy inched closer to her and stared deeply in her eyes. Felda’s heart missed a beat. This was the very first time in their friendship of one year that he had ever come this close physically. She felt her mouth and throat dry up. His voice drew her out of her thoughts. “I love you, Felda”. I always have. More than ever I want something more from this friendship. I want to wake up every day knowing that you are mine. Can I keep my heart with you? I know you will keep it safe”. He paused as though waiting for her response. She looked down nervously and cleared her throat in an attempt to speak. Timmy quickly lifted her chin and looked deeply into her eyes.
She stiffened a bit and her heart began racing wildly in her chest… “Oh God, now he is going to kiss me”, she thought as she shut her eyes… But he didn’t. He moved just bit more closer and whispered huskily “Felda, will you marry me?” Her knees got weak. She almost slummed to the ground. Timmy quickly held her up and hugged. She held on to him tightly. “Will you?” he whispered into her ears. “Yes, Timmy… I will”, she managed to find her voice to respond to this long awaited proposal. They stayed in each other’s embrace with heaven being their witness. There was no ring neither was there any other drama; just two hearts exchanging deep emotions for each other.
Felda smiled at the memory. She quickly jumped out of bed to check on her wedding dress…. She loved it. Her wedding planner had helped her to purchase it from Bridal Villa.
The bridal stylist suggested she chose something with sequins to add sparkle to the gown because from their interaction, she thought Felda has a dazzle personality. And now looking at her dress, she believes she did an awesome job! She couldn’t have opted for any other gown than this! Three good days more to walk graciously down the aisle to say “I do” to her heartthrob? Gosh… that felt painfully too long. She let out a long sigh, hugged the wedding dress and said this prayer. “Thank you Lord Jesus! I pray for every lady out there searching for her dream man. May you lead them to meet the one who makes them smile each day like Timmy does”.
Did she pray for anyone reading this? Then say Amen and send her your goodwill message.
