TWIFO ATTI-MORKWA DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION WAILS ABOUT LOW TEACHING STRENGTH IN THE DISTRICT, ACCOUNTING FOR HIGH STUDENTS ABSENTEEISM AND DROP OUTS

The district director of education in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of central region, Mrs Augustina Attakorah is profusely lamenting that there is a huge teacher deficit in the district which has compelled some headteacher to combine classes.

She disclosed that, the situation has increased students absenteeism, drop outs to the extent that some parents are also sending their children to the neighboring districts where there are enough teaching staff.

She called on the ministry of education and Ghana education service to post more teachers to Twifo Atti-morkwa district to fill the existing vacancies in the various schools in the district.

Mrs Augustina Attakorah also advised parents to feed their wards well before they come to school, explaining that children who come to school with empty stomach achieves nothing in class.

Aside the feeding, she also charged parents to provide other learning resources like pens, pencils, books and decent school uniforms for their children to augment the government’s efforts in education.
