YOU GOT YOUR FACTS WRONG ON THE NATIONAL CATHEDRAL – TUC GEN. SEC. TOLD

The General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah has asked President Akufo-Addo to abandon the National Cathedral project and convert same into what he described as a National Hospital.

His point of contention is that government has been spending monies on the construction of the edifice and that it is not prudent to build a National Cathedral.

Much as I would not hold anything against him for expressing these sentiments, I also believe that he is out of touch with the realities on the ground.

The TUC General Secretary is telling us that he does not know that the 2023 budget does not have any approved funding for the National Cathedral?

If he were not so much removed from civilization, he would have come to the realization that the National Cathedral project has stalled. Where from his comment to the effect that monies are being spent on the edifice?

A whole TUC General Secretary does not follow events in the nation? No wonder he delivered that speech fraught with factual inaccuracies and falsified data or information.

With such a platform, the TUC General Secretary chose to peddle untruths when he could have used same to urge government to expedite action on the measures to resuscitate the economy.

If the TUC General Secretary has the services of researchers, then they either misled him or they are simply not good. It behoved on Dr. Yaw Baah to cross-check information tabled before him before speaking to same at the May Day event.

These anti-Cathedral sentiments from these people can never yield any fruit unless the party they love to fraternize with, the NDC, mistakenly gets the nod to form the next government.

The National Cathedral had no business in the speech the TUC General Secretary delivered.

Their penchant for criticizing the project unjustly was responsible for the topic finding expression in his speech. I felt disappointed listening to his speech.
