The RSF is claiming its convoy assisting the evacuation of French citizens was attacked by an army jet, according to a post on the group’s Twitter page.
“The evacuation convoy of French nationals moved this morning from the French embassy and crossed the city of Bahri to Omdurman, whereby it was attacked and the aircraft was shot down,” RSF tweeted.
One person was injured in the alleged incident, the paramilitary group said.
“This flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and the declared truce was witnessed and attended by members of the French embassy that documented the incident. In the face of this cowardly attack to preserve the safety of the French nationals, the Rapid Support Forces had to return the convoy to the first starting point.”
Al Jazeera could not independently verify the RSF’s claims. There was no comment to date from French authorities.

“They were trying to gather supplies before continuing their journey to Port Sudan,” NRC communications coordinator in Gedaref Ahmed Omer told Al Jazeera.
According to Omer, those arriving said nowhere in the capital was safe anymore, with lack of fuel and exorbitant food prices was adding to people’s difficulties.
