The general election of 2023, according to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, is “one of the proudest achievements” of his administration.

The president claimed to have established “a level playing field for all contestants regardless of party affiliations” in his Sallah greeting to the Muslim faithful, which was signed by Garba Shehu, his spokesperson, on Thursday.

Members of Buhari’s political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), were “routed and unseated,” according to the president. He also claimed that the election results were “transparent.”

In addition to our neutrality in the election’s administration, President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the peaceful conclusion of the 2023 general elections “will go down on record as one of the proudest achievements of my administration,” the statement reads.

President Buhari stated that “the outcome of the elections were in line with my pledge to leave a legacy of free and fair elections” in his well-wishes to Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to commemorate the conclusion of the 30-day Ramadan fasting season.

“I’m pleased that, in order to generate a fair result for everyone, I established an even playing field for all contenders, regardless of their party affiliation.

The manipulation of the will of the people undermines democracy itself, thus the only foundations that lend legitimacy to our democracy are free and fair elections.

“Free and fair elections are the only principles that give credibility to our democracy because the subversion of the people’s will undermines democracy itself,” the president declared.

I never interfered with the process to give anyone an undue advantage, he continued.

While the governorship and state legislature elections were held on March 18, the presidential and national assembly elections were held on February 25.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pronounced Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, to be the victor.

At the election petition tribunal, opposition political parties Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have challenged the results.
