NPP directs all MPs to be present in Parliament today
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on all its 137 members of Parliament (MPs) to be present in the House on Friday for the day’s proceedings.
This the party says follows the outcome of proceedings on Thursday, March 23.
After heated debate on the report of the Appointments Committee regarding the nominations of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, voting was scheduled to be held on Friday at the instance of the Speaker of Parliament.
The Minority Caucus, whose party’s National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia was seated in the public gallery on Thursday throughout proceedings, has resolved to reject the President’s nominees during voting on the motion.
A statement issued by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua urged the Majority Whips to ensure that no member absents himself or herself from activities on Friday.
This, he insisted, is “to get Government business accomplished in the supreme interest of the country”.
“The Party is committed to supporting and rallying behind the government in achieving the desired economic transformation for the good people of Ghana.”
