COVID-19 GAVE NPP ELECTORAL ADVANTAGE – NDC PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE
Parliamentary candidate aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Weija Gbawe constituency Cleyland Nii Ayaa Ayison says the only reason the New Patriotic Party and MP for the area Tina Naa Ayele Mensah won the Weija seat in the 2020 elections was as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Since the splitting of the Weija Gbawe constituency into three namely Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom, Anyaa Sowutuom, and Weija Gbawe by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has never won the seat and is determined to win it.
Cleyland Nii Ayaa Ayison who contested sitting MP for the area Tina Naa Ayele Ayison in the 2020 elections but lost believes he has what it takes to snatch the Parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, the COVID 19 pandemic gave the incumbent MP and the New Patriotic Party an added advantage since they lied to constituents of offering free food, electricity and water to win sympathy votes while Ghanaians were being taxed for all the services.
He noted that the loopholes that New Patriotic Party candidate took advantage of to win the election have been dealt with hence assured of beating Tina Naa Ayele Mensah
The Weija Dam Spillage has also been the problem of constituents living with the catchment area of the dam and Cleyland Nii Ayison who filed his nomination on Wednesday says he has a solution.
