GRNMA UPPER WEST REGION PRESENTS HEALTH FUND SUPPORT CHEQUES SUMED GHC33,800.00 TO TWO MEMBERS IN THE WA MUNICIPALITY.
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) continuous to offer financial support to members in critical health need.
The Upper West Regional Executives in collaboration with the Wa Municipal Executives on the19th of January, 2024, presented Cheques worth Thirty Three Thousand Eight Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC33800) to two sick members of the association in the Wa Municipality.
The cheques were presented in separate events by the Upper West Regional Chairman, Mr. Lawrence Bagrmwin on behalf of the President Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo.
The beneficiaries include: Madam Apambe Julliana, a nurse at the St. Francis Xavier Health Center who was involved in Road Traffic Accident. She received an amount of Three thousand eight hundred Ghana cedis (3,800.00).
The other beneficiary was Dabuo Benedicta who received a cheque of Thirty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 30,000.00). Madam Benedicta works at the Wa Municipal Hospital.
In the Wa municipal Hospital, the presentation was made in the presence of the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of the hospital, Madam Alima Ali, the hospital Administrator, Mr. Samson Abu, the Municipal Chairman, Mr. Kanyiri Ibrahim, as well as other Regional and Municipal executives of the Union.
The team was later at the Municipal Health Administration, where they made the presentation in the company of the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (Public Health) Madam Beatrice Tengan, who sat in for the Municipal Health Director, who was engaged.
Mr. Lawrence Bagrmwin, the Regional Chairman (GRNMA) used the opportunity to remind the representatives of the employer of their responsibility in times of ill health of the employee as contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed between the association and the employer
He stressed the need to screen all nurses and midwives at least once in a year and to pay fifty percent (50% ) of treatments for conditions outside the remit of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
He emphasised that the Union’s support was to support the member’s part of the 50% and so the employers were expected to add their part, since the health of staff was a common interest.
The beneficiaries extended thier gratitude to Madam President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, the Upper west Regional Executives and the Wa Municipal executives for the financial support, emphasising the big relief the support was going to give them.
They called on all nurses and midwives to unite behind the leadership of the association at all levels in line with the group’s motto ‘Unity is Strength!”
