NIA OFFICE IN TWIFO ATTI-MORKWA DISTRICT DISCONNECTED FOR SIX BAD MONTHS DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY ELECTRICITY BILL
The National Identification Authority’s district office at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of central region has been disconnected from using power by ECG.
The disconnection took place in April, 2023 up to date. This was due to the institution’s inability to settle their accumulated electricity bill of six thousand Ghana cedis (gh6,000).
Currently, the NIA workers use industrial power banks to work which has put their work in a sluggish mode. People who go there to either access their cards or register for new cards have to join massive queue for hours before they are attended to.
This is the second time in a roll the NIA office in Twifo Praso has been disconnected by ECG due to bill accumulation. In 2022, ECG also disconnected them when they were owing a sum of gh8,000 which was later paid by the Twifo Atti-morkwa district assembly to enable NIA to resume work.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Listowel Aboagye Dacosta of Wassaman Fm, the District Chief Executive of Twifo Atti-morkwa district Hon Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi has again assured that, this time round the assembly alone cannot defray the debts but they will lace with the NIA so that both can settle the current outstanding debt of gh6000 so that the NIA can fully and smoothly function to provide the necessary services in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district.
