MEDIA OUTLETS BECOME SLEEPY WHEN MAHAMA ATTACKS BUT WAKE UP WHEN IT COMES FROM NPP- P.K SARPONG.
There is absolutely nothing presidential about John Dramani Mahama. He disdains the very people he claims he wants to come and rescue from hardships.
His disrespectful comments, continuous insults on political opponents and attacks on people who hold widely divergent views as against his couch him as the most contumelious person to have occupied Ghana’s Presidency.
Certain nagging questions torment my mind. I’m unable to come to terms with the fact that John Mahama has made insults the air he breathes, the food he eats and the water he drinks, yet our media persons appear indifferent about it.
Is it the case that these media personalities and Ghanaians in general hold the New Patriotic Party with a higher standard than the NDC for which reason John Mahama can go berserk and brazenly insult political opponents without same generating media attention and coverage?
Is it the fact that Ghanaians hold the NPP in high esteem as opposed to the NDC so much so that what would garner public attention coming from the NPP would not get any attention when it comes from the NDC?
John Dramani Mahama, in his characteristic deceptive manner, said that given a chance at the Presidency, he would cancel ex-gratia. Legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, in a television discussion, asked the former President to return the ex-gratia he has taken before his promise could be considered as credible.
Mahama went after Kpebu, describing the harmless request he made as silly and senseless. This, for whatever reasons, doesn’t seem to be sensational enough coming from Mahama. If it had come from President Akufo-Addo or Vice President Bawumia, these media houses would have run agog with their twists, in their attempts to set the Precedent or Vice President up for attacks. Mahama makes this comment and he is walking down the streets without anyone questioning him.
He then descends on Presidential staffers and workers at the Jubilee House who constantly write about him and refers to what they write as stupid. How low can a former president get? This is the lowest ebb a politician who seeks the mandate of the people could sink to!
For some grotesque reasons, John Mahama is not being asked any questions about this insult on those who express their opinions about him without insulting him.
I am cock sure that if this ‘stupid’ remark had come from a top NPP official or member, these media persons would have run riots with same.
The simple truth is that, media outlets pretend to have gone to sleep when John Mahama insults his opponents but suddenly wake up from their self-imposed sleep when an NPP guru jabs Mahama.
This is the sad reality we are witnessing in Ghana now. What Mahama gets away with, Akufo-Addo or Bawumia would be skinned alive for same. This is an unfair
