About one thousand (1,000) members of the National Democratic Congress in the Wassa East constituency of western region have overwhelmingly crossed carpet to join the New Patriotic Party.
The defectors joyously made their intentions known when the deputy CEO of Coastal Development Authority in charge of western and western north region lawyer Gertrude Mona Effah (Obaa Noaa) picked her forms at the NPP office in Daboase to contest in the NPP’s upcoming Parliamentary primaries.
According to the members, the reasons that necessitated for their decision to join NPP are; the current NDC MP for Wassa East constituency Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has been in Parliament for twelve good years but has not lobbied for any development to the constituency. Again, he has also not fulfilled any of the juicy campaign promises he made to the people since 2012 he assumed power as MP.
They lamented that, it will be extremely uneasy for them to even get a campaign message to the electorates if they should continue support the current MP.

The group added that it is about time the Wassa East constituency takes a new leaf and new direction and the only person whom they believe and trust with the genuine qualities to lead the constituency in this new paradigm shift is lawyer Gertrude Mona Effa.

Mr. Majesty Ayerebi who is the special aide to lawyer Gertrude Mona Effah welcomed the new members into the NPP party and urged them to join the breaking the 8 campaign in order to unseat the current MP in 2024 whose underperformance has brought all of them to the NPP.

Finally, lawyer Gertrude Mona Effa (Obaa Noaa) the Parliamentary Candidate aspirant for NPP in the Wassa East constituency also expressed joy and unflinching gratitude to the party members and the new NDC members for their support when she was picking her forms. She however, implored the members to keep supporting her through to the 2024 general elections which is their ultimate goal to achieve.
