Speaking at symposium as a way to welcome members, the Regional chairperson of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives gave a staggering insight on cervical cancer and made note that one woman dies every two minutes as a result of cervical cancer as studies shows.
Again in his welcome remark, Mr. Prince Opuni Frimpong ceased the moments to laud the great initiative of the President of GRNMA Mad. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo for putting up the Women and gender committee to birth this annual symposium.
The chairperson for the symposium, Col. (Rtd) Vida Otoo also shared some great insight about how nurses and midwives especially the women can be empowered to take charge of their health. The keynote speaker, Dr. Gloria Achempin-Ansong, a senior Lecturer of the Department of Adult health at the school of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Ghana took turn to delve into the theme and elaborated ways participants can be well empowered and also highlighted the incidence and prevalence of cervical cancer.
The symposium has a moment which was held as the Empowerment Moment which saw the National Coordinator of the Women and Gender committee, Mrs. Irene Mensah taking the floor to share practical sessions with women and the participants on how to be well informed about issues of empowerment and gender equality.
She was supported by the Southern Zone coordinator of the committee in shedding lights on the theme.
The event was very interactive with on site participants drawn from the Health facilities, GRNMA administrative Districts and institutions.
