NDC’s CANDIDATE IN THE KUMAWU BY-ELECTION WAS A REGISTERED VOTER IN AYAWASO WEST WUOGON AND NOT KUMAWU – P.K SARPONG
Sammy Gyamfi’s ferocious attacks on the Electoral Commission over the past few days stem from his claim that an aspiring candidate of the NPP in Assin North is not a registered voter in the constituency but rather Tarkwa Nsuaem, and, therefore, not eligible to contest in Assin North.

Sammy Gyamfi and the opposition National Democratic Congress are in a symbiotic relationship with dishonesty.
They have exhibited this tendency in several ways the mind can readily recollect. They are quick to deploy vices out there but turn around to demand virtues to be thrown their way.
He has accused the Electoral Commission of attempting to ‘steal’ his name into the voters’ register of Assin North. He asserts that the EC is in cahoots with the ruling NPP to get the gentleman’s name into the register of Assin North.
The NDC’s National Communications Officer has created the impression that the EC is committing an egregious offence or sin which all ‘well-meaning’ Ghanaians ought to know and condemn same in no uncertain terms.
What Sammy Gyamfi and his assigns failed to either tell Ghanaians or learn is the fact that the very ‘sin’ he claims is being committed by the EC, they committed it first in the just held Kumawu by-election.
Mr. Kwasi Amankwah, the parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the Kumawu by-election, was not a registered voter in Kumawu but Ayawaso West Wuogon.
The EC has held and quoted the Constitutional provision allowing a person who may not be a registered voter in a constituency but hails from there to put himself up for elections in the constituency he comes from but not a registered voter there.
It is hypocritical for the NDC to attempt to prevent a non-registered voter in Assin North who hails from the place to contest when their candidate in the recently held by-election in Kumawu was a registered voter in Ayawaso West Wuogon but due to the fact that he hails from Kumawu, he was allowed to contest!
It is either Sammy Gyamfi and the NDC have a weak research department or they thought the EC would not be able to prove that Kwasi Amankwah contested on their ticket in Kumawu even though he votes in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
From all indications, there are no reasonable grounds for the effusions of the NDC over this matter except to besmirch the Commission and create the erroneous impression that the EC is in bed with the NPP to do the NDC in. They will not succeed in this scheme.
