Hon. Ato Forson is a flip-flop extraordinaire, he lacks principles- PK Sarpong.

To have the NDC in power would be scary as they have exhibited over the years that they are sloths when it comes to managing this economy.

Have we thought about having Cassiel Ato Forson as the next Finance Minister? It would be far more tragic to see this man manning the nation’s purse as Finance Minister.

Very typical of Ato Forson when things get better for the country and same seems to be keeping the NDC on the sidelines for many more years, he would come up with a hymnal so gloomy and depressing that one may think Ghana is second to none in terms of economies whose performances are below average.

This is what he has said after the IMF granted Ghana’s request for US$3 billion:

“Let us brace ourselves for the full consequences of this IMF deal, which will without doubt bite hard on Ghanaians, especially the youth. This is not a counsel of despair, but a reality that will soon dawn on all of us,”

First of all, why is he trying to create a semblance of a myth about conditions associated with the IMF aiding a member country? Why is he calling for fire and brimstone to fall upon Ghana simply because the IMF is giving Ghana some conditions going forward?

When they left that botched Senchi Economic Forum and handed the keys to the running of the economy to the IMF and World Bank, weren’t there some conditions? Why is he making it appear that this is the first time conditions are being attached to a facility from the IMF as far as Ghana is concerned?

It is important to stress that the conditions attached to this program are those Ghana sent to the Fund. They spell out what we can do to enhance the growth of the economy and restore investor confidence.

Let me cast a wistful glance into time to bring forth some of the pronouncements of this prophet of doom in the shape of Ato Forson.

Ato Forson said that Ghana would suffer from severe hunger, a famine akin to the one experienced in 1983 because of some policies of the Akufo-Addo government. That prophecy turned out to be false. Even in the face of COVID-19, Ghana never experienced famine.

He also indicated that there was no way the IMF would grant Ghana this US$3 billion facility in May and that the earliest would be at the end of July or August 2023. As you can see, we are in May and the facility has been approved.

Was it not this same Ato Forson who said that he asked the Akufo-Addo government to seek a bailout from the IMF in 2021 and that the most prudent thing to do was to seek support from the Fund? Why is he singing dirges after the same Fund has come to our rescue?

Ato Forson is a flip-flop extraordinaire! He lacks principles. What is obvious is that with this deal being successful, the NDC would be kept on the bench of opposition for many years, hence these illogical rants and whining!

P.K.Sarpong,

Whispers from the Corridors of the Thinking Place.
