If we ever imagined that the Russian/Ukrainian conflict is nearing its end, then we might have been dreamers all this while.

We might start drifting towards the point that the conflict is screeching to its peak rather. The Cold War probably never ended.

It appears to have been renewed through this war between Russia and Ukraine. The US backs Ukraine, and China, another force to reckon with, is solidly behind Russia.

A few weeks ago, US President Joe Biden visited Kyiv, a move many saw as having the potential to intensify Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine. Russia, as we can see, has not slowed down in its invasion of Ukraine. It has rather been upped following the visit by Biden.

China is sending the strongest signals yet about its unflinching support for Russia as it continues invading Ukraine.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping will visit Russia next week for the first time since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine began, Beijing and the Kremlin confirmed Friday.

The visit shows one thing; Russia is not backing down until Ukraine falls. Beijing is a willing ally for Moscow as its relationship with Washington gets strained further with this show of support for Russia.

Washington will not be happy with this move by the Chinese Premier. The West through NATO may want to go further than it has done so far for Kyiv.

Poland is set to transfer four MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in the coming days, the Polish president said, becoming the first NATO member to grant Kyiv’s repeated requests for aircraft to counter Russian attacks.

A lot of activities are likely to take place after the visit of the Chinese leader. With Russia and China strengthening their ties, the US-led NATO would want to take their relationship with Kyiv to a different level.

In effect, no side is willing to back down in this ongoing conflict. The global economy will further be weakened by this continuous fight between the two giants.

International peace has become very vulnerable. The US and China are at loggerheads over Taiwan as the South East Asian country has resisted China’s attempts to make the island a territory of the mainland.

Economies across the world must start rebuilding without banking their hopes on Putin ending the invasion. Anything less than this would spell disaster for those nations.

What remains the fact is that the global economic downturn is not leaving anytime soon. The slowdown will continue to linger around. Countries must find innovative ways to dislodge themselves from Russia and Ukraine economically.
