Why Have Media Outlets Gone Quiet Over Anas-Kennedy Agyapong Court Ruling?
It is amazing how our media outlets and their presenters mostly ignored the Anas Vrs Ken Agyapong court’s verdict like a plague.
Our media houses and journalists are always quick to express their heterodox opinions on everything that happens in the country.
These people harp on sensational stories in the public space and make mincemeats of subjects at the epicenters of these stories.
They have been dead silent today because the judgment went against Anas, their colleague, and not Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong. If Anas had won the case, the media landscape would have been suffused with cacophonous noises hailing him and praising the judge.
Even those who attempted to discuss the judgment did a lopsided review of it, chastising the judgment for not being good for the fight against corruption in the country.
Some journalists even asserted that the system is out to get Anas and stop him from doing the work he has been doing. They said that the system contrived to hunt Anas down.
To these people, Anas is God’s favourite gift to mankind and that he never does anything wrong. Ghana is blessed to have a saint like Anas, that is the posture these people have exhibited as far as this verdict is concerned.
They forget that using a contaminated tin of sardines to prepare a delicious sauce does not make the sauce wholesome. That is the exact method Anas uses. That is what the judgment essentially highlighted.
Their silence cannot change the verdict of the court. Keeping silent on this case does not invalidate the verdict of the court. The judgment stands!
