I am groping to come to terms with the point that some people would want us to roll out the red carpets for them for supporting other presidential aspirants but we have no rights whatsoever to support Dr. Bawumia.
These people feel we do not have the same inalienable rights as they do to support any aspirant of our choice.
To them, we are motivated by the fact that we shall continue to enjoy power when Dr. Bawumia wins the primaries and wins the presidential elections.
Assuming without admitting that that is even the case (it is not the case, let me emphasize), what do they also hope to become or get when the aspirants they are rooting for win and become presidents?
Let them be schooled that many of the appointees of President Akufo-Addo were against him in opposition but when power was won, they were all appointed, including those who went against him in the presidential primaries.
It is not about the belief that we shall continue to ‘enjoy’ when Vice President Bawumia becomes president that is motivating us. We believe that Bawumia has served this party and government well and has whatever it takes to become president.
We believe that he is inches if not miles, above those competing against him in this race. We believe he has garnered enough experience to take over from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
We believe he is our surest bet of the party winning or retaining power in 2024. We believe he towers above everyone else in this race as far as governance is concerned.
There are some appointees under Akufo-Addo who are supporting other aspirants and have not been questioned. Don’t they also want to continue ‘enjoying’ when Bawumia becomes president, per the pathetic logic of these people?
Bawumia better understands the system we are operating, he knows where we are as a country and knows how best to pedal us to a safer destination as the man at the helm of affairs. None understands the current state of global affairs than him.
With a leader like Bawumia, Ghana will reach a destination that would become the envy of other African nations. We have one motivation: Bawumia is competent to become Ghana’s next President.
