Episode 11
The week after Daphne’s mother was discharged from the hospital was akin to living in in Paradise.
Mr. Mfodwo, Daphne’s father who had been away from town arrived safely when he heard of his wife’s hospitalization.
He received George with open arms when he had been briefed of events over the weeks, ranging from saving Daphne and his wife.
Daphne had a call. It was Samuel, a friend of the family. He inquired about the health of her mum. Louis also called.
She ignored the call. He kept on calling. She didn’t make any attempt to pick up. Her mum asked her who was calling. Louis, she told her mum.
“Give me the phone, Daphne” her mum instructed.
“Hello, Sweet Daph, I miss you. I am sorry I haven’t been able to come and see your mother. Will make time for you and her, okay? Forgive me” just as he was about to hang up, Daphne’s mum spoke.
“Louis, this is not Daphne but me! I am disappointed in you. So you couldn’t make time to come and see me at the hospital or even at home. How do you intend to be my son-in-law with such an uncaring attitude?”
Louis could only ask to be forgiven after his fruitless efforts to justify his actions. “Asew, forgive me. It won’t happy again please. I beg!” He pleaded.
George desired to engage Daphne over what had happened the day before her mother was taken ill. They finally had their moment.
“George, I know you have been waiting for an opportune time for us to discuss this issue. Let us do so now” she urged.
“Where do I even begin this? How do I start this? Okay, let me put it this way; how do I fit into your plans, your family and the brighter future your family has planned for you?” He asked Daphne.
“George, I am unable to respond to all your questions at the moment. All I know is that I like you very much.
As to where this could lead to, I can’t tell for now, but I am determined to ensure that something good comes out of this” she said, assuringly.
She pulled George along towards her room. Her parents were in their room, probably asleep. He was marveled by the sheer beauty of her bedroom. She kissed him and he responded with the same passion she did kiss him.
