(Episode Eight)
P.K. Sarpong (Whispers).
“Madam, I am here to assure you that I am not harmful to your daughter. I am not even her friend yet. I believe what I did for her in the accident is responsible for why you always see me in her company or the vice versa”
He waited for her reaction. She supplied none.
“There is no amorous relationship between us.
It hasn’t even crossed my mind. Besides, I am too ordinary to even entertain such a thought.
So, please, put your fears to rest.
I do not have the capacity to jeopardize the beautiful future this family has planned for her”.
Daphne’s mum sighed.
She appeared relieved after George’s assurances.
“Well, since you put it that way, I think you are no threat to my daughter.
I must admit that I have not been fair to you either.
You saved my daughter from that accident, and the least I could have done was to show my gratitude to you for that act of bravery” she admitted.
George was at peace with the world hearing such soothing words coming from Daphne’s mother.
“Thank you, Madam. She is safe with me” he assured her.
“Mummy, I kept telling you that George is a good person. He risked his life to save mine. No bad person would do what he did. I am now happy that this conversation has taken place” Daphne remarked.
“Won’t you offer your friend something to eat? The cook is in the kitchen. Make sure she serves him food”.
Just before George was about leaving the house, Louis entered the house. Daphne was not happy seeing him. She was still mad at what he did to her.
“What are you doing here, Louis? You think you can toy with my emotions anyway you please and walk back into my life just like that?” Daphne asked her husband-to-be.
“I have said time without number that I am sorry. It will not happen again, Daph” Louis pleaded.
“Daphne, I think you should forgive him”, that came from George.
“Hey buddy, who the hell are you to poke your nose into our affairs?
What is your business in our affairs?
Who even allowed you entry into this house?”
Louis asked, menacingly walking towards George.
Daphne rushed to prevent a chaotic situation but she was too late. Louis had already given George a hefty
blow. He felt the heaviness of the blow but stood on his ground, his hands still folded on his chest.
Daphne flared up. “Louis, I have had it up to my neck! Leave this house immediately. You monster, what has George done to you for this your animalistic act?
Leave now!” Louis was hoping to be rescued by Daphne’s mum but it was clear she had climbed to the third floor of the building. Louis left, cursing George.
“I am sorry, George. Are you hurt? Let me go up and bring first aid kit so that…..” George cut her short. “No need. I am fine. It is not your fault that he feels insecure” George left for his home.
