(Episode Seven)
P.K. Sarpong (Whispers).
George went to Daphne’s house. He knocked on the metal gate.
“Hey! Who be you? What dey want” the gateman asked him.
“I am here to see Daphne, please. Tell her George is here to see her”. The gateman hesitated for a some seconds, then looked at his feat
“Hey! Who be you? What dey want” the gateman asked him.
“I am here to see Daphne, please. Tell her George is here to see her”. The gateman hesitated for a some seconds, then looked at his features. “Massa, Madam no go gree for you enter”
“Who is that, James?” Daphne asked the gateman.
“It be this man who dey say want see you” he responded.
“What’s his name?” Before James could respond to her, George spoke, “It is me, George”
“George, what are you doing here? I never expected to see you here, at least, not after what happened the last time with my mother”
“I am here because of your mother” he indicated.
“My mum? What’s wrong? What is it about her? Has she done anything bad” Daphne asked, desperate to find out.
“She hasn’t done anything. I just need to straighten things out with her. I am not okay with her treatment of me anytime she sees me in your company”
“You mean you want to set the records straight that there is nothing between us?”
“Exactly the point. I think when that is done, her sense of insecurity would evaporate into thin air. I know she will not be happy seeing me but this will continue if I don’t get to explain myself to her now” he said.
“I think you have a point. She will let us have our peace of mind if she is assured of my safety. I get embarrassed anytime she takes a swipe at you”
Just before they reached the entrance to the house itself, Daphne’s mum stormed out of the house, her eyes blazing with fire.
“You this boy! Have I not warned you to stay away from my daughter? So now you are bold enough to come into my home to mess up my daughter?”
“Mummy! He is not here to see me. He came to talk to you about something important. Just listen to what he has to say and you can take a decision afterwards” Daphne implored her mum.
Her mum hesitated, weighed the issue in her mind for close to two minutes before beckoning him to sit down, under a canopy in the compound.
“Daphne, come and join me” her mum called her. She took a seat beside her mum.
“Gentleman, talk!” that’s Daphne’s mum.
