TOO COLD TO LOVE AGAIN
(Episode Five)

She looked elegant in her red outfit. The car she was driving had all the signs of influence. A brand new BMW, though he couldn’t make out the model. It looked neat.
“George, get in, please” she asked. He hesitated for a moment. “Please”, she added. Her blue eyes pierced his defenses and crushed them. He got into the car.
“So, George, tell me about yourself. What is your story?” Daph wanted to know.
“Madam, there is nothing much to say about myself. I am just a young man struggling through life’s numerous obstacles to reach the summit of my goals. I am not rich like you but I am not too poor”.
She burst into laughter. “What does not too poor mean, George?”. He joined her in laughing over it.
“So what were you doing there that day? Where were you going that day the accident occurred” George asked her.
Daphne explained to him that she attended a birthday party and had some drinks which got her a bit drunk so she slept at her friend’s place for a while. She set off when she woke up but she wasn’t at fault. The other driver lost control of his steering wheel, according to investigations by the Police.
Daphne received a call. “Daph, where are you? Come and see something at the restaurant behind the Ahmadiyya Hospital” the lady on the other side said.
“What’s going on? Gen me up, Akos” Daphne asked, exasperated. She wouldn’t say exactly what the issue was.
“Sorry, George. I will need to see Akos and she sounded urgent. I hope you don’t mind going with me”. George told her he was cool with it.
Akos beckoned her to come over. It was Louis in a very compromising situation with a lady. She watched in absolute horror while he planted kisses on the lady’s lips. The lady also held his waist as they kissed each other in that corner they thought the world would not see.
“Louis! Louis! What the heck is going on? You are cheating on me after all these years?” Daphne cried out.
George stood there, motionless, not knowing what to do. He had no business getting involved in the matter.
Daphne rushed towards Louis and his lover. George held her hand, preventing her from going there to quarrel with Louis and the lady.
Louis took advantage of the situation and rushed the lady out of the place, got into his car with her and drove off.
Akos wasn’t happy with George. Daphne was mad at George. The two ladies ranted about why he had stopped her from dealing with Louis and the lady.
“You are too refined and sophisticated to fight in public. I did this for you. You may disagree but when you cool down, you’d know that I am right”.
“It wasn’t in your place to stop me from dealing with Louis. It is my own affair and you should have stayed off”. Daphne sauntered in the direction of her BMW, with Akos following her. They got into the car and without waiting for George, drove off.
