Antoine Semenyo pounced on a rebound in stoppage time to hand the Black Stars all three points at the Baba Yara Stadium in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Despite seeing most of the ball in the entire 90 minutes, the Black Stars failed to create enough chances.

However, the most important moment arrived when the team capitalized on a free-kick that was palmed poorly by the Angola goalkeeper, leaving Semenyo no option but to strike from close range.

Here is how the Black Stars were rated.

Lawrence Ati Zigi -6: Had no issues as a result of the unimpressive display from the forwards of Angola. Kept his backline in shape throughout.

Denis Odoi -6: Link up play with both Jordan Ayew and Joseph Paintsil who came on in the second half was excellent but could have done more with crosses.

Alexander Djiku-6: Patnered well with Amartey until he limped off due to injury in the dying embers of the game. His usual forward passes were not enough in this game.

Daniel Amartey-6: Kept his composure and helped repel the few dangerous runs from the Angolans

Gideon Mensah-5: Didn’t do much to buttress the attack from the left flank but did fine to keep his area safe despite a shaky start.

Edmund Addo-5: Shielded the backline well which helped Partey take risk in attack. Could have done better with his passes.

Thomas Partey-7: Ideas to instigate attacks were great but excellent forward passes didn’t materialise due to ineffective attackers.

Mohammed Kudus-6: Didn’t give much of what he is known for. However, his sense of urgency in attack was felt.

Jordan Ayew-5: Won so many fouls for his team which could have resulted in a better scoreline. He could go a step better with his crosses.

Kamaldeen Sulemana-6: Made daring attacking runs in the first half which didn’t end well. His decision making could be better.

Inaki Williams 3: Despite his determination to get his first goal, his efforts were well checked by the defense of his opponents.

Substitutes

Osman Bukari-3: Continued from where Sulemana left of and nearly got a goal
